SC-222 is established at the request of Inmarsat to determine the changes and amendments to DO-210D, Minimum Operational Performance Standards (MOPS) for Geosynchronous Orbit Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Serices (AMSS) Avionics; DO-262, Minimum Operation Performance Standards for Avionics Supporting Next Generation Satellite Systems (NGSS); and/or DO-270, Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) for the Aeronautical Mobile-Satellite (R) Service (AMS(R)S) as Used in Aeronautical Data Links necessary to:
1) Harmonize these documents with the updated ICAO AMS(R)S SARPS, as adopted February 2007.
2) Add provision for AMS(R)S using Swift Broadband to the technique-specific appendices of DO-262 and DO-270. It is anticipated that new versions of these documents may be required.
3) Harmonize these document with the FCC-sanctioned agreement between Inmarsat and MSV concerning Ancillary Terrestrial Component.
